Prairie du Chien: Mississippi Rivertown

Prairie du Chien: Mississippi Rivertown

River towns in the region are special, and range in size from small to large.  RVI’s focus these days are primarily Prairie du Chien.  Each river city and town have their own character, manufacturing, entertainment or tech focus, and a range of services, industries, and nearby recreational pursuits and connections.

In the case of Praire du Chien, and at the confluence of the Wisconsin and Mississippi rivers, in the heart of the Driftless Region, awaits the opportunity of Wyalusing  Commons.

Centrally located within a population of 8 million and large cities and hospitals easily accessible within a short driving distance, this property is central to the scenic wonder and majesty of our mightiest rivers and bluffs that still grace this region.

Wyalusing Commons, currently in the planning stage, could be a breakthrough planned community in a post COVID era.

Opportunity and amenities could include:

  • Mixed use neighborhood
  • Shared workspace
  • Educational hub
  • Rent or to own property and housing
  • Neighbourhood services
  • Helpful access to local recreational opportunities
  • Local Market and fuel station
  • Smart building
  • Small town living with connectivity

Wyalusing Commons is one of the most historically significant locations in the Midwest, set within the historic City of Prairie du Chien.  Ranging from Ferrole Island, to Fort Crawfords remains, it tells the history of the United States settlement, along this greatest of Rivers–the Mississippi.    Here is the epic story, and the very location of the settlement of North America: A river outpost– built on exploration, abundant wildlife, fur trade, and survival.  It is the scene of pivotal moments of medicine, education, war, peace, and geo-political forces in time– like no other.

  • We believe that the future is not just “urban or rural” but a blending, a mix, and access to quality lifestyles that allow for living not in an urban setting, within revitalized smaller cities which can provide needed services and convenience, without congestion and the concerns of more populated large cities.
  • For many people, all of us easily connected  to the  resources and the internet, and smaller groupings and communities that yearn for affordable housing, good schools, outdoor connection, winding trails connecting smartly built and appealing structures and landscaping incorporating gardens of all sizes and types.  Small town living with services close by such as a state of the art hospital, large community theatre, opportunities for entrepreneurship, a regional airport and fiber that connects us to the world.
